The existing structure, built is 1922, was a 14 span cast in place bridge on a wood pile foundation

New bridge deck was set with both land based and barge based equipment. The new five span deck was set and anchored in two days.

The new structure was built adjacent to the existing structure so traffic could be maintained on the old structure until completion. Due to a thick seam of peat, the new bridge approaches were constructed of a reinforced geogrid mat
