EJ&E Bridge 123 Substructure Repair

The structural steel bridge is set on limestone block abutments which had deteriorated at the bridge seats requiring  replacement of the upper abutment and bridge seats.

After the removal of the superstructure, the existing abutments and bridge seats were removed to predefined limits to allow for the installation of the new precast bridge seats.

Upper Abutment and Bridge Seat Removal 

Project is located North of Wayne, IL. In the Pratt Wayne Woods Forest Preserve.

Bridge was the EJ&E crossing of the Canadian National (CN)track and was accessed along CN right-of-way.

New bridge seats

New precast concrete bridge seats were set in place, pinned and grouted into the existing limestone abutment, and the superstructure reset, leveled and anchored.
